How to make a perfect smoky eye makeup

Smoky eye makeup is one of the most common and versatile techniques in the world of beauty and cosmetics. If you are looking to give an air of intensity and depth to your look, this makeup technique is ideal for all kinds of events. From a weekend getaway with friends, to an event or special occasion.

That’s why we tell you the key steps to achieve a striking look with this makeup technique, using the right products. Whether you’re just starting to make-up or already an expert, these tips will help you master the art of smoky eyes.

Steps to make smoky eye makeup

Here are a few key steps to make this versatile makeup look great on your face.

Skin preparation

First of all, we started by removing makeup with one of our favorite salon products: Natura Bissé’s Cleanser The Cure (500ml). This product is not currently for sale, but it is what we work with to obtain a perfect finish for a makeup technique like this.

Then we continue with the tonic vitamin C of Natura Bissé or in its absence, "Vitamin Splash". After that, if you wish, you can add three ampoules of "Diamond Instant Glow" before starting to make up. When necessary, we apply eye contour of the brand 1944 "Le bouclier Beauté".

Blending technique

Once the eyelid is ready, it’s time to move on to applying shadows. To achieve a perfect smoky eye makeup, you must master the art of blending. Choose a palette that contains a range of dark and medium tones. A good starting point is to apply a transition shadow on the eye fold. This will create a base that will facilitate the integration of darker colors.

The next step is to apply a dark shade, preferably in shades of brown, grey or black, on the moving eyelid, focusing on the outer corner of the eye. It is important not to overcharge the brush, as it will be easier to add product than remove it. Gently blend the color outward with circular or "v" movements to avoid hard lines and achieve a natural smoky effect.

One of the most important makeup tips is to not rush when blending. The time you spend on this part will determine the success of the look. To add depth, you can outline the upper and lower lash line with a black pencil and lightly blend it with a small brush to accentuate the smoky effect.

Final touches

Smoky makeup wouldn’t be complete without a few finishing touches that add intensity to the look. Once you’ve applied and faded the shadows, you can illuminate the eyebrow’s lacrimal and bow with a light or slightly satin-brushed shadow. This will not only open your look, but also create a stylish contrast to the dark shades of shadows.

To add more drama to the look, add a touch of mascara that adds volume and length. If you dare, you can also apply fake eyelashes for a more impactful effect.
